Far too often Healthcare providers aren’t talking to each other – patients don’t know this. If you visit the ER, does your Primary Care Physician have a clue, does your dialysis provider? Are you sure?

In this episode we are joined by Joseph Mayer, MD. He is the co-founder and CEO of Cureatr, which provides seamless communication between doctors, streamlined workflows and real-time mobile push notifications to alert care providers when their patients are treated in any care setting within their region.

Joe's inspiration to start Cureatr came during his residency at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Manhattan. Immersed in the fast-paced ER, he lived the time-delay frustration of tracking down primary care physicians to alert them about patient treatment. He knew that he could speed this communication, reduce admin work to save time, human resources and dollars.

Joe launched the pilot for Cureatr while at Mt. Sinai and his quick expansion, with a national presence on the near horizon, coincided with the seismic healthcare shift of fee-for-service to value-based. Healthcare providers, in this new landscape of risk and responsibility, need a seamless approach for better care coordination among a community of care providers.

Do we now have the tools to fight the effects of aging, dementia, or even Alzheimer's? In this episode we discuss Cognitive Health with Dr. Raj Kumar, Chief Medical Officer of MyCognition.

Cognition, defined briefly as the ability to think, learn, respond, and remember, is a crucial issue in healthcare today because of an increasingly aging population and diagnoses of dementia, attention disorders, learning disorders, and anxiety at all-time highs.

What is your CQ? MyCQ™, short for cognition quotient, is an assessment tool developed by UK company MyCognition for measuring cognitive functioning. It is the mission of MyCognition to measure and improve cognitive health.  In addition to its MyCQ assessment tool, MyCognition brings a range of training products that have been specifically developed to enhance the thinking, learning and memory processes.  Learn about how this exciting technology is showing cognitive health improvements in schools, workplaces, and the healthcare sector.

With all the sophisticated technologies we are implementing, supporting or looking forward to in the future it is easy to maybe overlook the "routine". We have all learned though, complacency regarding the "routine" can often get people hurt.  In fact an entire career field was launched over concerns that thousands of patients were being harmed due to electrical shocks from the very medical equipment that was meant to help them.  Our guest Matt Baretich, author of the latest AAMI Electrical Safety Manual, joins us for an interview recorded "Live" at AAMI 2015.
